News websites such as the BBC are a formal sender of information to the wide general public. Their style is corporate, formal, and information based writing and topics. They focus on news that is particularly long standing, and that could affect a wide section of the viewing population. Their news site is categorised, up to date, and relevant to the audience, which is the general public.
ReplyDeleteA consideration to have with the BBC is that the information they output is information based upon their own companies ethos and morals. Is the news that we receive something that we require or information that they themselves require us to receive? The news items could be carefully selected in a process of ratio as a form of propaganda to oppress public reaction to particular stories.
An example of their home page, gives a selection of stories, most of which would be considered, bad news, with one or two selected items that being something in relation to the countries forces, government, or hierarchy brought to our attention in a positive way.
In contrast, sky news home page highlights a more positive page of news, with only one or two items of news that would be considered bad.
These items were on the main page this Tuesday.
This would suggest that the users of these two different sites, could have a contrasting view on the news depending on which site they were to visit to receive their news. The content of each site portrays a different aspect on the same news, which would affect the viewing populations opinion based upon facts they receive from these trusty news sources.
